Sushi Gateway
RioSH Technologies has developed “Sushi Gateway” employs Nordic Semiconductor’s nrf52810 SoC with Arm® Cortex™-M4 CPU running at 64 MHz and ESP32 with Xtensa® single-/dual-core 32-bit LX6 microprocessor(s) running at 40MHz.
The Nordic Semiconductor’s nrf52810 SoC collects the data from multiple sensors through Bluetooth and then transmits that data to the ESP32 via a UART communication. The ESP32 acts as a gateway, receiving the sensor data from the Nordic SoC through the UART communication and then forwarding it to the cloud using a network connection (such as Wi-Fi or cellular). The external antennas extend the reach of the gateway, compared to a pure PCB antenna
To summarize, the sensor data flows from the sensors to the Nordic module, then to the ESP32 through a UART communication, and finally to the cloud. The Nordic SoC and the ESP32 communicate with each other using UART communication, which allows them to transfer the sensor data back and forth between the two devices.
Applications of Gateway
Some examples of IoT applications that use gateways include:
- Home security: IoT gateways can be used to connect security cameras, door and window sensors, and other devices to a home network, allowing homeowners to monitor and control their home security remotely.
- Smart farming: IoT gateways can be used to connect sensors and other devices on a farm, enabling farmers to monitor and optimize various aspects of their operation, such as soil moisture and temperature, crop growth, and animal health.
- Industrial security and safety: IoT gateways can be used to connect sensors and other devices in industrial settings to monitor conditions and ensure the safety of workers. For example, sensors could be used to detect hazardous gases or temperature extremes, and gateways could be used to alert workers and shut down equipment as needed.
These are just a few examples of the many ways in which IoT gateways can be used. As the IoT continues to grow and evolve, it is likely that we will see more and more innovative uses for these devices.
